Spider-Man 4:

Morbius Marvel VampireIn a recent interview with Fear Net, Spider-Man Director Sam Raimi talked about how interesting vampires can be, and the different dynamics they can bring to storytelling.

While not confirming the addition of Morbius as a vilain in the fourth installment of the Spider-Man franchise, he did allude to a definite interest in vampires.

Check out the interview here.

Amazing Spiderman 101For those unfamiliar with Morbius, the Living Vampire, he made his first appearance in Amazing Spiderman #101 in 1971, and was created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane. Dr. Michael Morbius acquired his vampire powers through scientific means rather than the super-natural standard, and was an indirect challenge by then EIC Stan Lee, of the Comics Code Authority having baned any super-natural vampire elements in comics. Several months later the CCA lifted the "vampire ban" in comics, partly due to the success of the character of Morbius. This lead to Marvel's vast exploration into horror comics, and the eventual publication of such books as Dracula, and Blade.

Spider-Man 4 is slated for release on May 6, 2011. Directed by Sam Raimi, the film will star Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man, and Kirsten Dunst as Marry Jane Watson.

RE: Moving Pictures With Sound: Raimi and the Spiderman 4 Villain
Maybe we can get rid of that skank-a-saurus-rex that plays Mary Jane. Spiderman 4 might be worth my $9.50 at the box office.
